Municipalities in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu fall next to the City Municipal Corporations.[1] There are about 142 Municipalities in Tamil Nadu. Municipalities have four categories based on their annual income and population:
- Special grade municipalities
- Selection grade municipalities
- Grade I municipalities
- Grade II municipalities
Their elected representatives include ward councillors and a presiding officer, Municipal Chairperson. Municipal Commissioner is the executive authority.
